The Art of Compositing: VFX

Compositing is the combining footage of CGI Computer generated Imagery computer graphics visual elements from different sources into single image & Live-action footage like "chroma key", "blue screen", "green screen" and other... are often to create the illusion that all those elements are real footage from same scene.

VFX Games - The Art of Compositing

A short project that created that explains what is VFX and especially Digital Compositing. This project was made to showcase skills along side creativity, Roy Peker was responsible for all of the 2D aspect of it and supervising the team that was working on their own special skills such as 3D, Matchmove, Grading, Sound design and much more…..! Software that have been used are Nuke, Adobe After Effects & Photoshop, 3DS Max, 3DEqualizer and more...

Which involves compositing techniques like rotoscoping, wire removal, matchmove and matte paintings to create realistic 3D environments

 

 

Elements to keep in mind for image composition and Video composition:
Perspective Match, proportionate, Color combination, light and shade, Highlight, Middle tone, shadow, Detailing, Color Grading.

What does a compositor do?
Compositors work in animation and post production department as or with TDs (Technical Directors)
Compositors work at the end of the production process mean Post-Production. They are responsible for constructing the final composition image by combining several footage Live Action clip to CGI Computer generated Imagery. Compositors need a thorough understanding of the CG process with creatively combine artistic skills in establish style of the project, enhance the lighting, match color levels, color corrections. add film grain, add motion blur for movement, create cg shadows, keying, rotoscoping, wire removal, match moving, creating matte paintings and DI Color Grading.
