Try these together

Three creative projects, step by step.

01

Design-your-own party badge

Set out circles cut from card. Invite guests to draw a symbol of a superpower, hobby or favourite animal. Punch holes and attach with string only with adult help.

Try asking: Ask each child to describe why their badge represents them. Younger children can choose from large pre-cut shapes.

02

Pass-the-picture challenge

Every participant draws for 45 seconds and passes the paper along. The next person adds one detail. Continue until each page returns to its starter.

Try asking: Let children decide whether to keep or revise what others added. Avoid judging who drew best.

03

Build a celebration poster

In small groups, choose one headline and three big drawings for a make-believe party. Test whether someone across the room can read the headline.

Try asking: Talk about what belongs at the top and why—an introduction to graphic-design hierarchy.

Beyond the fun

What children can practise

Planning, visual storytelling, sharing and decision-making. The aim is to practise these habits, not to promise better marks or a specific profession.

Connect it to school

Using shapes, counting supplies and describing a creation.

Adult notes & age adjustments

Set up a low-mess station with wipeable surfaces; prepare spare paper and alternate activities for children who do not want to draw. Keep scissors and small materials supervised.

Ages 5–6: pre-cut shapes. Ages 7–9: design a badge plus a poster. Ages 10–12: assign layout, lettering and illustration roles.
