Try these together

Three creative projects, step by step.

01

Five-shape nature hunt

Look for a circle, spiral, zigzag, branch and repeating pattern. Draw them where you find them.

Try asking: Discuss whether two different objects can share the same shape.

02

Leaf without picking

Observe a leaf attached to a plant. Draw its overall shape, centre line and veins; compare two kinds from a safe path.

Try asking: Notice symmetry and difference without removing plant material.

03

Invent a colour palette

Choose five colours seen in the park. Make five swatches and name them creatively, such as “pond green”.

Try asking: Compare shades in sunlight and shade; avoid collecting or touching unknown plants.

Beyond the fun

What children can practise

Careful observation, classification, curiosity and environmental awareness. The aim is to practise these habits, not to promise better marks or a specific profession.

Connect it to school

Science observation, geometry and descriptive vocabulary.

Adult notes & age adjustments

Stay on permitted paths, respect wildlife, and use observation rather than taking natural objects. Apply venue safety and weather guidance.

Ages 4–6: colour naming. Ages 7–9: shape hunt. Ages 10–14: make an annotated observational sketch.
